Injustice is a big word. This article is about human injustice and how easily people forget a few kind words. Instead their own insecurity takes precedence.
According to the dictionary Injustice means lack of fairness or justice.
In simple words:
- absence of justice : violation of right or of the rights of another; unfairness
- an unjust act; wrong.
Injustice is many things
- Stereotypes is a cause of discrimination, because one might not think about the stereotypes or prejudices a person holds might hurt or put other people to disadvantage without the person realizing or knowing.
- Human Injustice is the condition or practice of being unjust or unfair to human beings. Human Injustice happens all around the world. Modern day human injustice acts would include: ISIS, child abuse, human trafficking, world hunger & poverty, racism, bullying, etc.
- Social injustice is also the way unjust actions are done in the society. Social injustice occurs in a situation where the equals are treated unequally and the unequal is treated equally. Three common examples of social injustice include: discrimination, ageism, and homophobia
Causes of Injustice
A common cause of injustice is human selfishness. Human injustice is not always caused by attempt to gain unfair advantage or malice; it may be simply the result of the flawed human decision making.
The human selfishness aspect is something many people never consider, especially when it comes to injustice.
Those few seemingly light-hearted, fun words you said to a colleague about a member of your team?
Let’s see, something like this perhaps :
- “Oh, don’t worry about her, she’s just ditzy.”
- “He’s never really a team player, not so much fun.”
I’m sure you get the picture.
The after effects are that your work colleague/s heard what you said and have in all probability taken it on board as truth. You have unjustly damaged that persons reputation. That person will reap the negative benefits of your unjust comment/s.
They will (probably) be forever off the guest list.
Think before you speak, support diversity in the workplace and in your daily life.
