What really prompted me to write about Terms and Conditions or Statement of Rights and Responsibilities is the naivete of the general public. The wild, senseless and thoughtless comments about online apps used for banking, shopping, insurance etc alongside credit/debit card apps used for purchases on the go eg. Tap&Go, Zapper etc.
These apps and services are all safe and increase security as you don’t have to hand your card over to swipe, dip or enter your PIN. And, so convenient. They all have terms and conditions that you have to accept before you can access and use them.
My point here is that irrespective of whether you choose to step into a store, bank, insurance or use online facilities they are all governed by Terms and Conditions. Terms and conditions in a very broad sense are there to protect businesses, government agencies as well as the consumer, that is you Mr Joe Public.
There are many variations of the same or similar conditions and vary in terms of online services.
Terms of service (also known as terms of use and terms and conditions, commonly abbreviated as ToS or TOS and TOU) or Terms and Conditions abbreviated as T&C’s. They are rules which you agree to abide by in order to use a service. Terms of service can also be a disclaimer, especially regarding the use of websites.
Terms and Conditions
Terms of service governs our relationship with users and others who interact with many of the social media platforms, their brands, and products. Statement of Rights and Responsibilities are services, that many social media platforms call “Services”.
While a Terms and Conditions agreement is recommended to have for your website, it’s not required by law to have this agreement. Only Privacy Policies are required by law if you collect personal data from your users: email address, first and last names, shipping address, etc.

General Terms – Very broadly
General terms and conditions are terms and conditions that have been drawn up for use in more than one contract, so they have been formulated in general terms. An example is the term “Exchange and return within eight days with receipt” on a sign at the checkout. This term will apply to all contracts that a retailer concludes with its customers. Consider that general terms and conditions are basic in nature and there are many factors to contemplate. Some of these are:

- Sharing Your Content and Information
- Safety
- Registration and Account Security
- Protecting Other People’s Rights
- Mobile and Other Devices
- Payments
- Special Provisions Applicable to Developers/Operators of Applications and Websites
- About Advertisements and Other Commercial Content

- Special Provisions Applicable to Users Outside the United States (or similar)
- Definitions
- Other
- Disputes
I do not claim any legal expertise in regard to terms and conditions, however logic prevails. Logic is being able to apply reason, conduct or assess according to strict principles of validity.
Think before you open your mouth with silly comments based on heresay. Research before you make bold and sweeping statements based on your own lack of information.
